We had 4 port stops on our cruise. Philip and I had been to all of these ports once before in 2005, so we mostly took it easy and/or did things we didn't have the chance to do before in each port.
KetchikanThis was our first port and our first chance to do something we'd missed out on on our last Alaskan cruise. In 2005, we'd whizzed past a blue diamond jewelry case in a store before we ran to catch our transport for an excursion. I'd been wanting to look at blue diamond jewelry ever since. In Ketchikan, Philip not only kept the girls happy in store after store while I looked at jewelry, but in the end, he even bought me a blue diamond ring (with 3 blue diamonds...one for each baby...oh yeah, I haven't announced on here yet that I'm pregnant again! :) ).
Here I am in Ketchikan showing off my new ring with Melody who's just been given a color changing ring of her own.
JuneauWe were in port at Juneau for an afternoon and evening, so we did some easy in-town things in the afternoon before returning for dinner and fun on the ship in the evening. So, we rode a tram up onto a mountain in Juneau. The weather for our whole cruise was incredible. We had highs in the 80s, and although I'd been looking forward to cooler weather, we couldn't deny the advantage to the incredibly clear and non-rainy skies the whole cruise. We had unheard of visibility for our entire cruise, so the tram was a great choice for getting some good views of the area. Melody particularly enjoyed seeing a pile of snow on the mountain, riding the tram down, and seeing a stuffed bear in the lobby of the tramway.
Here's Philip and Lily Beth from the top of the tramway with scenic windows behind them.
SkagwaySkagway is a nice little mountain town that can be enjoyed on foot, so we mostly used this port day to walk around and shop for souvenirs. Philip, however, got to enjoy one of his missed opportunities from the last Alaskan cruise here. He'd been wanting to enjoy an authentic Alaskan beer in Alaska since 2005, and I made sure this time that we took the time to do it!! We found the Skagway Brewing Company (which has been around since 1897) where he enjoyed a sampler of 4 of their own beers and of course got a few souvenirs to prove he'd been there! Melody's Skagway highlight was probably seeing the train waiting to pull out of the station and then watching it actually leave the station. She got several train souvenirs here, including an Alaskan train book which she held for well over an hour...even during a stroller nap in town. She also got a beautiful 3 part wooden train thanks to birthday money from her Mimi and her Mammaw and souvenir money from her Grandma. Thank you Grandmothers!!!
Here's Melody watching the train pull out of the station while holding onto her train book.
VictoriaVictoria was the one town where we took a ship sponsored excursion as it had been cancelled on our last cruise. We happily made it to Butchart Gardens...again after waiting for 4 years. It was beautiful. Victoria is one of my favorite places...even just from the hour in town I got 4 years ago, and the Butchart Gardens didn't fail to impress. They are simply beautiful. Melody enjoyed sitting on a carousel horse statue, "playing" the large instrument statues, snacking on graham crackers from her stroller, and the bus rides to and from the Gardens.
Here's all the girls at Butchart Gardens.

You may have noticed a lack of mention of Lily Beth's highlights in any port. She mostly enjoyed being carried when she could (though she was a good girl and mostly stayed in her stroller), taking off her left shoe regularly, and generally flirting with everyone available. Her mommy and daddy were amazed by how many people thought she was a boy....even when wearing flower prints or pink!!!
